Miami Press Release

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- AS IN NOW

FRISBEE (miami)
DATES: December 1 > 4, 2005
TIMES: 1 > 7PM
PLACE: Cavalier Hotel 1320 Ocean Drive (between 13th & 14th) Across from the beach (ocean) (water)

FRISBEE is super psyched to announce it’s 2nd installation in Miami! FRISBEE is a nomadic curatorial project co-founded by Anat Ebgi and Jen DeNike.

First and foremost we are not an “art fair”. This year we will positively rule with the coolest special performances & artist installations in town with some of our NYC homies Justin Lowe (j-lo), Aaron Young (good boy), Adriana Farminga (bunny), Martabel Wasserman (OC), Peter Coffin (Mr. Meatster), and many more. Collaborative groups including international participants like DREAMACHINE from Iceland and Tensta Konstall in Sweden, and Lorenzo Scotti di Luzio videos from Naples, Italy. Special projects will be installed in the lobby, hallway, and elevator of Cavalier Hotel; sound piece by Mike Skinner, an iconic installation of Jonah (JO-JO) Freeman's lost shoe fountains, SlowJam’s Band will do a “1/2 Hour of Power” jam session in the Cavalier Lobby, meteorite paintings by Chris Jahncke and a midnight “Kazoo the New Moon” with Carlton DeWoody (baby bunster), a beach performance by Feral Childe, and surprise events at locations around Miami (TBA). Travis Boyer and Abbey Walton will create a portal of pon-pon’s at the entrance of FRISBEE.

We will be hosting 14 hotel room installations which include: independent curatorial projects, artist’s projects, galleries, performances, and yes, HEEB Magazine. Our guests of honor and recipient of the FRISBEE Fellowship is Centre of Attention, a collaborative group of artists and curators from London. Jen (just do-it DeNike) met C.O.A at the Venice Biennial this summer and fell in love with their funeral installation Swan Song at the Arsenale. At Frisbee, C.O.A will be recreating John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s bed-in during the four-day duration of FRISBEE. Our very own Anat (ahari) Ebgi will be curating the FRISBEE Room. Brooklyn Hipster’s Julie Fishkin and Matt Lucas are bring down there curatorial club Metro Color Collision, and the young California dreaming curatorial team = Champion Fine Art will be installing for the last time ever a show of ephemera from past exhibitions before retiring to a bungalow in Venice, California. Returning FRISBEE favorites are Joymore Projects bringing down the adventurous sea-maiden & artist extraordinaire Marie Lorenz. Chris Verene and Cheri Nevers will once again offer up their services at the mini Self-Esteem Salon.

Oh, yeah, let us not forget to mention our favorite (and cutest) curator down in Miami -- Jose Carlos Diaz– who will be spreading holiday cheer by displaying artist-made ornaments on his curated Christmas tree in the Cavalier lobby. To balance the Christian lobby theme, we’ve invited our Jewish sexaholics, HEEB Magazine to participate in a room in which we still have no idea what the hell they’re up to. (Jen will be running around in her “Honorary HEEB” pink tee, while Anat has Heeb written all over her face – hey, check me out in the top 100 HEEB issue!) And Spirit Tours will be making reservations for the spiritually curious.

Its fun how female curators use sex and faux flakiness to advertize. Just right for miami and "art".
